The Romanian Patriarchate has learned with much sorrow of the terrorist attack, which took place on 12 January 2016 in the historical center of Istanbul, and caused the death of ten innocent people and injuries to 15 other people.

We pray the All-Merciful God to grant rest in His peace and love to the souls of the deceased and to grant healing to the wounded. Furthermore, we express our compassion and solidarity with the bereaved families.

In the pluralistic world of today, people have to live together in harmony and cooperation for the common good, and to respect the dignity and value of each person, irrespective of their ethnicity or religion.
