Despite the ongoing persecution and propaganda against the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church that is only increasing since December 15’s “unification council,” its dioceses are remaining faithful to it. A number of dioceses have already openly expressed their support for the Church’s canonical status as a self-governing autonomous body and for their primate His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, and a number of them have reaffirmed their fidelity in the aftermath of the “unification council.”

Now the Kamenka Diocese has joined the ranks of those who have reaffirmed their fidelity since December 15.

A general clergy meeting was held on January 3 under the chairmanship of His Eminence Archbishop Vladimir of Kamenka and Tsarichanka, reports the diocesan press service.

In addition to reporting on the life of the diocese in 2018, the clergy, headed by Abp. Vladimir, unanimously expressed their loyalty and devotion to the canonical Ukrainian Church and support for its primate, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine.

The same loyalty was previously expressed at a meeting of the hierarchs and secretaries of the Dnipropetrovsk, Krivoy Rog, and Kamenka Dioceses with representatives of the main department of the national police in the Dnipropetrovsk Region and the Dnipropetrovsk regional department of the Ukrainian Security Services in October.

In closing, Abp. Vladimir called on all the faithful of the UOC to be courageous, not to give up, and to rally around their head, Met. Onuphry.

The same support for the canonical Church and Met. Onuphry has also been expressed by the Dioceses of Volyn, Konotop-Glukhov, Dzhankoi, Mogilev-Podolsky, Uman, Ovruch, Berdyansk, Nikolaev, Nizhyn, Nova Kakhova, Izium, Crimea, Chernigov and Novgorod-Siversk, Kirovograd, Zhytomyr, Lugansk, Mukachevo, Alexandria, Zaporozhye, Kharkov, Voznesensk, Tulchin, Rivne, Kherson, Severodonetsk, Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk, Krivoy Rog, Kamenka, Zaporozhye, and Poltava, and the clergy of the city of Vinnitsa and of the Bar Deanery of the Vinnitsa Diocese.

Of those, the Severodonetsk, Voznesensk, Tulchin, Rivne, Zhytomyr, and Nizhyn Dioceses have reaffirmed their loyalty to the Ukrainian Church yet again following December 15’s scandalous “unification council.”

“This is all very regrettable—what has happened in Ukrainian Orthodoxy. We know about it. And especially regrettable is that the schism was perpetrated by a man who led the Church for many years, who in Communist times confronted various challenges. But in the end he himself struck a blow against his Church."

"We believe that the Mother of God, who so many times defended our land, today stands with tears by the throne of her Son praying for us. And we must, having cast aside anger, hatred, and malice, and having armed ourselves with love and forgiveness, strengthen our podvig of prayer in order to stop the flow of maternal tears, that children might not be made orphans, women—widows, children—invalids, that our cities and towns might not be destroyed, and houses abandoned. Such is the goal of the All-Ukrainian cross procession—a walk of peace, love and prayer for Ukraine."
