According to an announcement from the holy Metropolis of Hydra, Spetses, and Aegina of the Greek Orthodox Church the former abbess of the Holy Trinity-St. Nektarios Monastery on Aegina, Mother Theodosia, reposed in the Lord on Saturday, reports the Orthodoxia News Agency.
The funeral service for Mother Theodosia was celebrated on Sunday by Metropolitan Ephraim of Hydra, Spetses, and Aegina.
Gerontissa Theodosia served as abbess of the monastery for a long time, stepping down in July due to serious health problems. She was distinguished for her commitment to the works and ministry of the monastery and her robustness and charitable work.
May her memory be eternal!
Abbess Timothea was enthroned as the new head of the monastery on September 1.
The monastery was founded in 1904 by St. Nektarios at the request of several nuns. It is named for the Holy Trinity, though it is also popularly known as St. Nektarios Monastery given that he founded it and that his relics repose there.
Below is a short film about St. Nektarios, made with the blessing of Abbess Theodosia. The film is in Bulgarian, but includes wonderful footage from the monastery and around the island of Aegina:
