Hévíz, Hungary, December 31, 2019
A new church in honor of the Life-Giving Spring Icon of the Mother of God will soon appear in Hungary.
The foundation stone for the future church was laid and consecrated on Friday, December 27 by Metropolitan Mark of Ryazan and Mikhailovsk, the managing hierarch of the Hungarian Diocese of the Russian Church, and His Grace Bishop Siluan of Gyula of the Romanian Church, reports the press service of the Hungarian Diocese.
The celebration was attended by local residents and the mayor of the city of Hévíz, parishioners from Budapest and other cities, and representatives of the media.

Mark notes that Hévíz is a place of great historical and spiritual value, as it was there that the holy Emperor Theodosius the Great, who actively fought against the heresy of Arianism and made Christianity the state religion of the Roman Empire, was healed of an illness.
The service was followed by an agape meal. The events in Hévíz “expressed the natural desire for brotherly communion of the Orthodox jurisdictions in Hungary,” emphasized Bp. Siluan, according to the Basilica News Agency.
The next day, Met. Mark visited the city of Debrecen in eastern Hungary to consecrate the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity and celebrate the Divine Liturgy.
