His Holiness Patriarch Neofit of Bulgaria has been admitted to the hospital for examination, the official site of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church reported yesterday.

The Patriarch’s condition is stable and he is feeling well, and he thanks everyone for their attention and prayer.

Given the media speculation on the matter, the Patriarchate “calls on the self-respecting media and its audience to refrain from publishing unverified facts and from trusting dubious private sites that deliberately spread manipulated news.”

The site Doxologia Infonews reported yesterday that His Holiness was secretly rushed to the hospital in the middle of the night in serious condition, and claims that His Eminence Metropolitan Gabriel of Lovech confirmed this information in an interview with NOVA TV.

However, in the linked article, the Metropolitan says no such thing, but only confirms that the Patriarch is in the hospital. In fact, NOVA TV explicitly states: “According to our information, His Holiness's condition is stable.”
