Thanks to the catechetical work of the Albanian Orthodox Church, there has been a steady flow of Albanians turning to Christ in His holy Church for years now, and that flow continues to this day.

According to a new report from the Orthodoxia News Agency, there have been at least two mass Baptisms recently, the first taking place last month with eight women being united to Christ in the waters of regeneration.

And on Saturday, August 14, five more women were united to Christ in His Orthodox Church at the Church of the Life-Giving Spring in the village of Zvërnec in the Vlora Province. The Sacrament was celebrated with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Ignatios of Berat, Vlora, and Kanina.

OrthoChristian previously reported on several mass Baptisms in Albania in 2019. 11 boys were baptized in the Durrës Sea in July of that year, 12 children were baptized in a village near Berat in November, and 9 children were baptized in the village of Kozare later that month.

The Orthodoxia News Agency notes that while the number of Orthodox in Albania is steadily growing, the Albanian state conceals this fact in its official statistics.

@ Alexander.... I agree with you Brother Alexander... I never step foot in an Orthodox Church without a suit on... Many of the protestants and Roman Catholics go to church dressed like they are going to a picnic... Some of them look like clowns in short pants and sandals...... When you are in an Orthodox Church you should dress appropriately or go join a protestant sect where you can beat on drums and play guitars...

@Niba: typical protestant argumenation. I would advise you to read the baptismal catechetical sermons of St. John Chrysostom. On how Christians should be dressed in the Temple of the Lord.Or St. Cyrill of Jerusalem. Or St. Ambrose of Milan.

An illumination? Do you know the history of the church? Of the Holy Mystery of baptism? How long and how intense people had to prepare themselves for receiving the Holy Mystery of Baptism? Fasting, purification,..enlightment,...and to know how to behave, how to be dressed..., etc. Holy Baptism is a frightful Holy Mystery that gives eternal life. It is not a hocus pocus.

Glory to Almighty God for this great news ... May He show Mercy on those who Fear Him ... The Albanian People are returning to their Orthodox Roots... At the time of the great schism Albania was completely an Orthodox Nation and all of the Albanian People were Orthodox Christians at the time of the great schism... The evil Communists almost completely destroyed the Orthodox Church, the satanic monsters demolished hundreds of Orthodox Churches and they executed thousands of Orthodox Christians, including many Priests.. at the end of the disastrous communist period, only a handful of Orthodox Priests remained... and that is why, Brother Alexander, these ladies were not wearing headcovers because they were brought up in a secular environment where the evil Communists had almost wiped out the Holy Orthodox Church... In time they will return to our customs and traditions...

Pharisees looking at the externals rather than on the inside of the cup beginning to get clean. Smh.

Alexander, while you're not objectively wrong, at the same time, is that really your first thought at reading that these women have just received Holy Illumination? Glory to God, they have been united to Christ, and may other matters be ironed out in time!

Why they are not dressed proper during the Holy Mystery of Baptism? No covered hair?
