Morphou, Cyprus, August 30, 2021
His Eminence Metropolitan Neophytos of Morphou of the Church of Cyprus has returned to his pastoral duties after more than a week in isolation.
The Metropolis announced on August 18 that His Eminence tested positive for COVID and was showing mild symptoms. He received treatment from trusted doctors and remained isolated.
On Friday, the Metropolis announced that Met. Neophytos has fully recovered and his time of isolation is over.
The Metropolitan offered his heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses who treated him and to Gerontissa Justina of St. Nicholas Monastery, who offered the hierarch a cell in Holy Archangels Hermitage where he could remain secluded throughout his treatment.
He returns to his hierarchical duties today with his first official presence at the Vigil for the Great Martyr Mamas tonight.
His Eminence also informed his diocese that he will limit his activities through the end of the year “for the sake of peace and prayer.”
He concludes with thanksgiving to God, the Panagia, and all the saints, “because they answered our prayer to give us humility in sickness rather than arrogance in health.”
