Photo: Facebook The newly-built Church of St. Stephen in the Tanzanian village of Karama celebrated its first patronal feast day in a very special way.
In addition to the Divine Liturgy for the feast of the Protomartyr, 51 people were united to Christ in Holy Baptism, reports the Friends of the Bukoba Mission in Tanzania.
A month ago, 32 others received Holy Illumination, and within a month they managed to build the mud hut-Church of St. Stephen, where the feast was celebrated. Orthodox Christians from other parishes also joined in the celebration.
It was also announced that a plot of land will be purchased for the construction of a larger, permanent church.
OrthoChristian also reported today that more than a dozen people were baptized in Haiti on the day after Christmas.
