Thanks to the efforts of the local faithful and local workers, the foundation of a new church was recently laid in the Philippines.

And due to the constant seismic activity in the Philippines, the future Church of the Apostle Thomas in Kinabalan on the island of Mindanao is especially equipped with a reinforced foundation, designed to withstand earthquakes up to a 9.0 magnitude, reports the Russian Orthodox Church’s Diocese of the Philippines and Vietnam.

Despite the novelty of the project, the parishioners and workers, under the supervision of diocesan clergy, did a wonderful job laying the foundation, the diocese writes.

The foundation stone for another church, to be consecrated in honor of St. John (Maximovitch), was laid on the Filipino island of Tubabao earlier this month.
