According to the latest research of American scientists, people who read books live longer lives. Researchers have established that not only does love for literature have a good effect upon one’s intellectual level, but it can also prolong one’s life, reports Tsargrad.tv.
That reading books may have a considerable impact on people’s intellectual development is not an original conclusion of the American scientists, but there is also an original aspect to the research: reading, according to the experts, may prolong your life.
Scientists of Yale University (New Haven, Connecticut) carried out this research for many years. In the final analysis the researchers arrived at the conclusion that those who like reading books live, on average, two years longer than those who do not like reading books. It should be added that the research was conducted for twelve years with 3,500 testees participating in it.
According to the investigation results, death rates from among book lovers are twenty three per cent lower than among non-reading people. Moreover, as the scientists state, the most active book readers are women.
