Pale, Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, September 17, 2020
A monument to His Holiness Patriarch Pavle of Serbia (1914-2009), who was considered a saint already during his lifetime, was installed in the city of Pale in Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday, September 12.
The installation was timed to the Patriarch’s birthday, September 11. The 30th anniversary of his enthronement as Patriarch will also be celebrated in December.
The 8-foot monument is a gift from the company Stanišić to the local residents on the occasion of its 25th anniversary of business.
“In this modest way, we want to thank our fellow citizens for the support they have given us all these years, because I am sure that without them we would not be where we are today,” said the founder of the company.
The monument stands in front of the Cathedral of the Archangel Gabriel, depicting the Patriarch walking and blessing the people. His words are carved into the base of the monument: “Everything will pass, but the soul, honor, and goodness will remain forever.”
The consecration and opening of the monument will be held on a date determined by the Metropolitanate of Dabar-Bosnia of the Serbian Church.
In 2015, a monument to Pat. Pavle was unveiled in Leposavić in Kosovo.
