10th anniversary of the glorification of St. Paisios of Mt. Athos (+VIDEO)

Yesterday marked the 10th anniversary of the glorification of one of the greatest elders of the 20th century and one of the most revered saints of the Orthodox Church today.

On January 13, 2015, the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople resolved to canonize Elder Paisios of Mt. Athos. Today, he is a greatly beloved, universally venerated saint, with churches dedicated to him throughout the Orthodox world.

July 12, 2024, marked the 30th anniversary of his repose. He is buried at the Monastery of St. John the Theologian in Souroti, outside Thessaloniki, which he founded, next to the church named for St. Arsenios the Cappadocian, who baptized the future saint in his infancy.

Every year, thousands of pilgrims fill the monastery on the eve of his feast, coming to venerate his relics throughout the night.
